The Minister of Aviation and Airports of the Republic of Somaliland, Fuad Ahmed Nuh, has announced that a new Aviation Training Institute will soon be officially launched, a move expected to significantly strengthen the country’s aviation sector and enhance the skills of its workforce.

Speaking on the initiative, the Minister highlighted the institute’s strategic role in building local expertise, improving professional standards, and developing the technical capacity of employees working across the aviation industry. The facility is designed to provide specialized training programs within Somaliland, reducing the long-standing need to send aviation personnel abroad for professional development.

“I am pleased to announce to all employees of the Ministry of Aviation that the Aviation Personnel Training Institute will soon be inaugurated. The institute will play a vital role in advancing the knowledge and skills of our workforce while reducing the need for overseas training,” the Minister stated.

The upcoming institute is expected to become a cornerstone of Somaliland’s aviation development agenda, offering continuous professional training for aviation staff and helping establish a sustainable local training framework. Officials believe the project will contribute to improved service delivery, greater operational efficiency, and enhanced safety standards across the aviation sector.

The launch of the Aviation Training Institute represents a significant milestone in Somaliland’s efforts to modernize its aviation industry, invest in human capital, and build a self-sufficient system for aviation education and workforce development.

Industry observers view the initiative as a forward-looking investment that will not only benefit current aviation personnel but also create opportunities for future generations seeking careers in the rapidly evolving aviation sector.
