The President of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. Musa Bihi Abdi led mourners in attending a state funeral held for the slain nine policemen at Baqii’ Cemetery on Sunday.
The slain policemen were ambushed at Goda Yar centre in Sahi region on Friday by rebel gunmen.
President Muse Bihi Abdi who spoke on behalf of the nation expressed his grief and sorrow over the deaths of the soldiers who were buried, hence sent his deepest condolences to the nation at large and the families and relatives of the deceased.
He said, “On behalf of the nation, I offer my condolences to the nation, their families, and their relatives. We share the pain of the deaths as a nation”.
The President clearly stated that it was imperative that the assailants and their cahoots should be pursued and brought to justice for legal actions, thence directed the concerned institutions to the effect, noting that the government will act as per cue.
The Head of State called upon the people to be united and in solidarity defend the nation and its integrity, share advises and adhere to the constitution such that elections may be held in a conducive and harmonious setting.
In attendance were also the VP, Speaker of the Senate, the deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, members of the cabinet, service commanders, politicians and other notable members of the community and the relatives of the deceased officers.
