A high-level delegation including Somaliland’s Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Hon Abdilahi Hassan, Directors General from the Ministries of Finance Mohamed Hassan and Energy Shu’ayb Osman, and a representative of the World Bank conducted an official visit to Berbera to review progress on a major electricity expansion project aimed at improving power access in the city.
The delegation inspected ongoing works at various project sites and visited the headquarters of the Berbera Electricity Company, where they received updates on the implementation of the World Bank–funded initiative. The visit focused on assessing construction progress, operational developments, and the overall impact of the project on the local energy sector.
Officials emphasized the importance of the project in expanding access to affordable, reliable, and clean electricity for residents and businesses in Berbera. They noted that the initiative is expected to strengthen the city’s power infrastructure while supporting the transition toward more sustainable energy sources.
The visiting officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the successful completion of the project, highlighting its potential to boost economic development, improve public services, and enhance energy reliability across the region.
