A high-level delegation from the Republic of Somaliland’s National Electoral Commission (NEC), led by Chairman Muse Hassan Yusuf, has concluded a series of productive meetings in Finland aimed at strengthening democratic cooperation, enhancing electoral expertise, and fostering institutional development.

During the visit, the delegation engaged with key Finnish institutions and stakeholders, including the Finnish Election Commission, the Parliament of Finland, DEMO Finland, the Vantaa City Council, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and members of the Somaliland diaspora community in Finland.
The discussions focused on expanding collaboration between the two sides, sharing best practices in election management, improving technical and professional capacity, and supporting the continued advancement of Somaliland’s democratic processes and governance institutions.
The visit provided an important platform for exchanging experiences on democratic governance and electoral administration, areas in which Finland is internationally recognized for its strong institutional framework and transparent electoral systems.
At the conclusion of the meetings, the Somaliland National Electoral Commission expressed its sincere appreciation to the Finnish institutions and the Somaliland community in Finland for their warm reception, generous hospitality, and commitment to supporting democratic development and international cooperation.
The visit marks another step in Somaliland’s efforts to deepen international partnerships and strengthen the foundations of its democratic institutions through knowledge-sharing and constructive engagement with global partners.
