Brigadier General Nim’an Yusuf Osman Commander of the Somaliland National Army, has called on citizens to exercise extra vigilance during the upcoming May 18 Independence Day commemorations.
This marks the first time the nation is observing the historic occasion as an internationally recognized state.
“After recognition, May 18 is the first occasion that the Republic of Somaliland is commemorating. We need to maintain extra vigilance,” the commander said in a message directed to the people of Somaliland today.
The appeal comes amid heightened national pride as Somaliland prepares to celebrate its sovereignty with the new status of recognition.
