The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. Mohamed Ali aw Abdi has expressed his personal elation of attending and witnessing the signing of the tender for the construction of the first phase of the direly needed Lowya’Ado-Zeyla-Borama.

He was accompanied by the Chair of the ruling Waddani Party, several cabinet ministers and director generals.

Construction work on the road will be carried out jointly by Tianjin Tainer Construction Engineering Co. Ltd and ADCON Somaliland.

The VP reminded the officials and eminent personalities in the audience that he and the Head of State had made the road a major part of their policy as they campaigned prior to being voted into office.

He emotionally decried the pathetic state of the road which is 256km long having been quite hazardous, tiring and mangled vehicles due to its impassable nature; hence averred that to have the construction being initiated was more than triumph.

He made a similitude of the Burao-Erigavo road which hitherto had vehicles ply it for 12 to 16 hours from Hargeisa, but since its monumental task to construct it was undertaken, the time has been reduced to 7hrs or so to finish the journey.

He applauded the Waddani head for having initiated and completed the Erigavo road, a fete that was the assumed as impossible.

The VP pointed out that the signing of the 30m USD first phase from Lowya’ado to Zeyla is indeed a milestone that has been realized at a time that the nation of Somaliland has acquired dejure status; having been officially granted by a UN member state, Israel.

The VP praised the roads minister Hon. Osman Ibrahim Nour and the RDA chief executive director Mr, Mohamed Farah Abdi for their efforts.

He took the opportunity to send congratulatory message to the people of the nation during the commemoration of the 18 May national celebrations whose preparations and enthusiasms are quite vivid in all the streets of all towns in the nation.

He called for the upholding of peaceful stability and harmonious cohesion within the populaces.

He likewise urged the communities along the areas where the construction of the road is commencing to welcome the constructors and safeguard they stay.
