The Director General of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development of Somaliland, Mohamed Hassan Saleebaan, has announced a significant rise in inland tax revenues in the Togdheer region for 2025, reversing a trend of decline recorded in previous years.
Speaking on the performance of the region’s revenue system, the Director General said the increase reflects tangible improvements in tax collection, administration, and broader efforts to strengthen the financial framework in Togdheer.
“When we look at the year 2025, inland taxes in the Togdheer region have recorded a substantial increase; whereas in previous years they had been declining,” he stated.
As part of ongoing reforms, Mohamed Hassan Saleebaan inaugurated three new offices in Burao aimed at enhancing service delivery and boosting inland revenue collection. The newly opened facilities include the regional office of the Ministry of Finance in Togdheer and two additional inland revenue offices in the districts of Farah Oomar and Farah Suusle.
According to the Director General, the establishment of these offices follows needs identified during property registration activities in Burao. He noted that the expansion will play a key role in broadening the region’s revenue base and improving efficiency in tax administration.
He also praised the Togdheer Inland Revenue officials for their efforts in driving the recent growth in revenue collection.
