Somaliland President Hosts Saudi Business Delegation to Boost Investment Ties

Republic of Somaliland President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro welcomed a high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia’s Al Rajhi Group and Seed Investment Group at the Presidential Palace, signaling a new chapter in economic cooperation between Somaliland and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The seven-member delegation, led by Sheikh Nasir Alqahdiani, General Manager of Al Rajhi Group, included prominent figures such as Saud Alrajhi, Dr. Mohamed Nasir Alqahdani, Dr. Abdullah Sadik (Strategic Advisor), Eng. Anter Bilaal (Head of Infrastructure Engineering), Abdulrahman Salool (Government Relations Coordinator), and Dr. Shakir Haji Hussein Noor, Executive Director of Seed Investment Group. The visit underscores the growing interest of Saudi-based companies in Somaliland’s untapped economic potential.

Discussions centered on fostering robust investment and development partnerships, with a focus on key sectors including energy, livestock, agriculture, mining, fisheries, economic infrastructure, tourism, finance, insurance, and banking. President Irro highlighted Somaliland’s strategic location, political stability, and historical ties with Saudi Arabia, assuring the delegation of his government’s commitment to supporting investors through a framework of mutual trust and legal reliability.

“Somaliland is open for business,” President Irro declared. “We are ready to host impactful investments that drive development and strengthen economic ties in the Horn of Africa and the Middle East.”

Sheikh Nasir Alqahdiani expressed enthusiasm for Somaliland’s investment prospects, praising the nation’s economic reforms and vast natural resources. “We see Somaliland as a prime destination for investment, particularly in energy, agriculture, and infrastructure,” he said, emphasizing the potential for mutually beneficial projects.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about future collaborations, with Al Rajhi Group and Seed Investment Group poised to explore transformative projects in Somaliland. This visit marks a significant step toward deepening economic ties and unlocking Somaliland’s potential as a hub for regional investment.
