Notion to join Somalia is unacceptable, says Minister Shukri

The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Shukri Haji Ismail Bandare, described it as unacceptable that a community from the Somaliland clans has declared that it has seceded from Somaliland.

She said that attempts or notion to join Somalia is unacceptable and none would support.

The minister said that Somali tribes live in different countries in the Horn of Africa, and at the same time, being Somalis, they sparsely belong to separate countries or governments.

Minister Shukri gave the example of the Somali people living in the countries of the Horn of Africa, such as Kenya, or the Somali State of Ethiopia.

Shukri Haji Ismail Bandare, who spoke at an event to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8, held in Hargeisa, spoke about the battle in Lasanood where Somaliland’s national forces are fighting the invading groups.

She stressed that the conflict in Lasanood city is being catalyzed by foreign governments, as well as the enemies of the Republic of Somaliland. She said, “Somalis live everywhere, and the tribes live everywhere. Starting from Djibouti, Somaliland, Ethiopia, Somalia and

Shukri Bandare pointed out that it is not possible for the communities of the Sool region to say that they are joining Somalia, but it is necessary to gather at the discussion table and resolve the situation through dialogue.

She said that harmonious setting and peaceful stability is a necessity for any community anywhere hence is imperative.

She highlighted the situation and the suffering of women and children who fled the city of Lasanood saying that the war in Lasanood is being waged by foreign governments.

Minister Shukri Bandare elaborated the commemoration of International Women’s Day on March 8 and its dedication to women’s plight hence lauded the gender fraternity for their strives wherever they were.
