Minister of Finance Hon. Dr. Saad Ali Shire accompanied with his assistant minister Hon. Rhoda Jama Elmi attended a high level meeting to discuss GST Tax collection enhancement skill on Hotels in Hargeisa.
The treasury invited 66 Hotel proprietors to a meeting that it seeks to implement new sweeping changes to increase revenue generation. The finance ministry wants to initiate a progressive policy to tax Hoteliers on the Goods and Services they provide their customers.
The ministry affirmed at the meeting that they give first priority to taxpayers. The government officials at the meeting stated the GST will improve the quality of service provided to Hotel customers.
Minister Saad said, “Before we introduce new policy or tax we have to engage with stakeholders in the sector we have identified. This way we can listen to their grievances if any.”
