HARGEISA – The Director General of the Ministry of Livestock and Rural Development, Mr. Ahmed Osman Jama (Talosame), welcomed a high-level delegation from the Pharo Foundation to his office on Thursday for pivotal discussions aimed at bolstering collaboration between the two institutions.
The meeting placed particular emphasis on advancing the production of livestock feed, with both sides deliberating on actionable strategies to improve its quality, availability, and overall output. These efforts are seen as essential to fostering long-term sustainability within the region’s pastoral economy, which remains a cornerstone of rural livelihoods.
During the talks, participants shared perspectives on scaling up existing joint projects and exploring new avenues for cooperation. Key among the priorities was reinforcing the adaptive capacity of pastoral communities, enabling them to better withstand environmental and economic pressures while maintaining productive herds.
Concluding the session, Director General Talosame expressed deep appreciation for the Pharo Foundation’s continued commitment to partnering with the Ministry. He underscored that livestock feed development ranks among the Ministry’s foremost policy objectives and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to implement targeted programs that drive innovation in feed production. Such interventions, he noted, are vital to enhancing livestock productivity, supporting food security, and stimulating inclusive economic growth across rural areas.
