Israel FM Hosts Somaliland’s First Ambassador in Jerusalem as Ties Deepen

Israel’s Foreign Minister, Hon. Gideon Sa’ar, hosted the Republic of Somaliland’s Ambassador, Hon. Mohamed Hagi, at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem after the envoy formally presented his credentials to President Isaac Herzog.

The meeting marked another significant step in the growing relationship between Israel and Somaliland, coinciding with Somaliland’s Independence Day celebrations on Monday.

Foreign Minister Sa’ar welcomed Ambassador Hagi and emphasized Israel’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Somaliland across multiple sectors.

“I’ll continue building the relationship with Somaliland!” Sa’ar wrote on X following the meeting.

Calling the occasion “another meaningful day on the path we’re paving together,” Sa’ar said he was pleased to host Somaliland’s first ambassador to Israel at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem.

He also congratulated Ambassador Hagi on presenting his credentials to President Herzog and extended his greetings to the people of Somaliland on their Independence Day.

The meeting reflects increasingly warm diplomatic engagement between Israel and Somaliland, with both sides highlighting closer political ties, cooperation, and growing people-to-people relations.
