New public service broadcast for Hadio Hargeisa through mobile phones launched

The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, on Saturday attended the launching ceremony of a new mobile phone service for listening to Radio Hargeisa.

The new service will enable the people of Somaliland to easily access Radio Hargeisa’s news, programs, and public service broadcasts from anywhere anytime through their mobile phones.

The event was attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, cabinet ministers, the Governor of Maroodi Jeeh Region, and other distinguished guests.

The Vice President praised the progress being made by the Ministry of Information, Culture and National Guidance and the management of Radio Hargeisa, noting that the new service was indeed an important step toward modernizing the national media and ensuring the public receives accurate information.

He further emphasized the important role technology plays in connecting communities and improving national media services.

Speaking about programs that benefit society, the Vice President stated,

“I propose that the radio station introduce programs aimed at raising public awareness among the Somaliland community about tribalism and drug abuse.”

Speakers at the venue hailed the service terming it a new dawn in digital broadcasting.
