Somaliland Accelerates Development Drive: Finance Minister Chairs High-Level World Bank Projects Review

In a decisive push to fast-track national development, Republic of Somaliland’s Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Abdilahi Hassan Aden, on Tuesday chaired a high-level quarterly performance review meeting with ministers and heads of independent institutions implementing World Bank-funded projects.

The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, focused on evaluating the implementation progress of key development initiatives during the first quarter of 2026. It forms part of the regular three-month performance assessments designed to ensure projects deliver maximum impact.

Minister Abdilahi Hassan Aden outlined strategic measures taken by his ministry to deepen cooperation with the World Bank and accelerate project execution. He revealed plans to roll out a unified monitoring and evaluation system aimed at strengthening oversight, transparency, and accountability across all development projects.

The Minister also announced the establishment of a dedicated project coordination office to enhance implementation quality and institutional collaboration. He emphasized Somaliland’s long-term vision for sustainable and inclusive economic growth, stressing the vital role of international partnerships in delivering quality public services to citizens.

Participating ministers, institutional heads, the Director General of the Ministry of Finance Mr Mohamed Hassan, and the Mayor of Hargeisa Eng. Abdikarim Ahmed Mooge presented detailed progress reports, highlighting tangible achievements and offering practical recommendations to improve coordination and efficiency.

Concluding the meeting, Minister Abdilahi thanked all participants for their commitment and called for even stronger collaboration to ensure the successful delivery of Somaliland’s development agenda.
