The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development of the Republic of Somaliland today convened a high-level technical meeting at its headquarters to review the progress of the SERP Project, funded by the World Bank.
The meeting brought together key government institutions involved in the project’s implementation, including representatives from the Office of the Auditor General, the Accountant General, the Good Governance Commission, the Civil Service Commission, and the National Tender Board, among others.
Discussions centered on evaluating the project’s overall performance, assessing achievements across its various components, and setting strategic priorities for the next phase of implementation.
Opening the session, the SERP Project Coordinator delivered a comprehensive briefing on the project’s current status, highlighting notable progress, financial performance, and disbursement levels. He revealed that Somaliland has significantly increased its utilization of project funds—tripling previous levels—an indication of improved efficiency and stronger execution capacity.
Senior officials, including the Director General of the Ministry Mr. Mohamed Hassan Sulaiman, praised the project’s tangible achievements. They pointed to enhanced inter-agency coordination, increased financial absorption, and the project’s growing impact on strengthening public financial management systems and institutional governance.
The officials emphasized the importance of sustaining momentum and called on all stakeholders to intensify collaboration, fast-track implementation of planned activities, and uphold transparency and accountability standards.
They further stressed the need to ensure the project delivers on its broader strategic objectives, including boosting domestic revenue, improving civil service management, and enhancing the quality of public service delivery.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to accelerate priority activities scheduled for 2026, signaling continued momentum in Somaliland’s public sector reform agenda.
