Somaliland President Meets Senior U.S. Special Operations Command Africa Officials for Strategic Talks

In a significant step toward strengthening ties, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro, President of the Republic of Somaliland, held a high-level strategic meeting today with senior officials from the U.S. Special Operations Command Africa, focusing on security and cooperation in the Horn of Africa.

During the meeting, President Irro expressed deep appreciation for the U.S. delegation’s visit and emphasized Somaliland’s critical role in fostering peace and stability in the region.

Discussions centered on deepening bilateral partnerships, enhancing regional security, and advancing collaborative efforts between Somaliland and the United States.

“Somaliland has been a steadfast partner in promoting security, democracy, and peaceful coexistence in East Africa for over three decades,” President Irro stated. He highlighted Somaliland’s strategic importance and its unwavering commitment to regional stability, both on land and at sea.

The President also extended gratitude to U.S. legislative bodies for their continued support of Somaliland’s cause and for recent positive shifts in U.S. foreign policy concerning Somaliland and Somalia.

The U.S. military officials praised Somaliland’s remarkable achievements in maintaining security and stability, acknowledging its pivotal role in safeguarding the Horn of Africa. They committed to expanding cooperation through enhanced security initiatives, training programs, and technical support to further bolster Somaliland’s capabilities.

The meeting, held in Hargeisa, was attended by key Somaliland officials, including the Minister of Defense, the Minister of the Presidency, and the Commanders of the National Army, Police, and Intelligence, alongside other senior government figures. This landmark engagement underscores Somaliland’s growing international partnerships and its pivotal role in regional security, signaling a promising future for U.S.-Somaliland collaboration.
