The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Somaliland held a significant meeting today to unveil the findings of a comprehensive research study on Early Childhood Education (ECE). Conducted by the Pharo Foundation, the study examined the current state of early education and identified critical challenges in this vital sector.
The event, hosted at the Ministry’s conference hall, was attended by Minister of Education Prof. Ismail Duale Yusuf and State Minister Mohamed Yusuf Ibrahim Facuul. Representatives from the Pharo Foundation, Abdi Asis Ali Ahmed and Ken Leen, presented detailed insights into the research process, including the data collection methods, the regions and communities studied, and the key outcomes.
The research revealed notable progress in early childhood education in Somaliland, while also highlighting persistent challenges and needs. These findings provide a roadmap for the Ministry and partner organizations to implement effective measures to enhance early education services.
“This research is a crucial step toward strengthening our education system,” said Prof. Ismail. “By addressing the identified gaps, we can ensure our children receive the quality education they deserve from an early age.”
The Ministry and the Pharo Foundation expressed their commitment to collaborating on actionable solutions to advance early childhood education, a cornerstone for Somaliland’s future development.
