In a landmark diplomatic engagement, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro, President of the Republic of Somaliland, held a high-level meeting with His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Bin Jasim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.
The discussions focused on fostering cooperation and deepening ties between Somaliland and Qatar. Both sides explored opportunities for collaboration in trade, infrastructure, energy, education, and investment, aiming to drive economic growth and regional stability.
The leaders also addressed peace and security in the Horn of Africa, emphasizing Somaliland’s pivotal role in promoting stability and security in the region and the Red Sea corridor.
President Irro underscored Somaliland’s status as a sovereign nation, independently governed for the past 34 years, distinct from the Federal Government of Somalia. He highlighted Somaliland’s unique historical, legal, and political identity and reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful regional engagement and resolving challenges in the Horn of Africa.
This historic meeting marks a significant step toward stronger Somaliland-Qatar relations, promising mutual prosperity and a brighter future for the Horn of Africa.
