The Vice President of the Republic, His Excellency Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi has noted that the state is there to commit itself to serve its people and engage in good rapport with the populaces through constant consultations.
The VP made the remarks as he held a wide ranging meeting with traditional leaders, intellectuals and elders of Gabiley region on Friday.
He had been heroically welcomed to the town a day earlier in an elaborate manner following his recent achievements in the pacification mission in the eastern parts of the country that made him a national hero.
The meeting held at the Gabiley regional State House Lodge saw the discussions on various issues related to peace and development and how traditional leaders could play their roles.
The elders and intellectuals of Gabiley region who spoke expressed their gratitude to the Vice President and the new administration of the government, praising his triumphal endeavours following the pacification mission and nationalization of civilian forces, in a task well done.
They noted that the efforts would pave way for peaceful stability and development progress in the areas concerned.
The VP on his part expressed his gratitude to the elders and intellectuals of Gabiley region, while emphasizing the fact that the government is pursuing a broad plan for the development of the country and its people.
“The new “Togetherness and Action” government is committed to working towards the development of society and addressing the basic needs of the country”, he said.
He said that the government is ready to listen to the suggestions of its subjects and constantly consult them in good rapport.
