The Minister of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Development of Somaliland Hon. Saed Sulub Mohamed toured the Port of Berbera where exportation season of livestock is in high gear for the Middle Eastern countries intended for the Eid al-Fitr celebration which entails sacrificing animals, especially lambs as a major requirement.
The minister, who was monitoring the flow of live animals from the port, the fodder and general health of the animals and how well the animals are being exported from the port.
He witnessed a ship and four large dhows that were on the process of docking out with the export animals.
The minister was briefed the port staff and livestock traders on how they are engaged in the care of animals leaving the port.
In conclusion, Minister Saeed said that the economic backbone of Somaliland depends on live animals, and he asked the animal husbandry community to work on the care and improvement of the livestock industry.
