Hon. Hersi Ali H. Hassan, Chairman of the ruling WADDANI Party of the Republic of Somaliland, has congratulated Hon. Ahmed Shide Mohamed on his election as Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
In a congratulatory message, Hersi described Ahmed Shide as a prominent Somali politician who has risen to a senior position in the Horn of Africa, saying his election reflected the confidence placed in him by the Ethiopian people.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Ahmed Shide Mohamed, who has been elected Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia,” Hersi said.
He praised Ahmed Shide for emerging as one of the prominent Somali politicians in the region and reaching what he described as the highest level of political leadership.
Hersi also addressed the Somali community in Ethiopia’s Somali Regional State, emphasizing their place within Ethiopia and urging them to safeguard peace and development.
“The Somali ethnicity from which you originate does not prevent you from being a meaningful constituent community of Ethiopia,” Hersi said. “You are part of Ethiopia, so take pride in that and safeguard your development and peace.”
He wished the Somali community in Ethiopia continued progress and expressed hope that they would reach even greater heights in the future.
Hon. Hersi concluded his message by extending his wishes for peace and development to the people of Ethiopia as a whole.
