Warns against minor registration, thanks staffers
The Chairman of the National Electoral Commission, Mr. Musa Hassan Yusuf, who held a press conference Saturday, said that the voter registration process has been completed successfully. It officially ended on 28th January 2023.
The chairman thanked everyone who participated in the implementation of the Voter Registration exercise.
Earlier, he warned that minors should not seek registration of voter cards at all.
He at the same time expressed his gratitude to the security forces who have been manning the registration centers in maintaining order and the staff of the NEC and said that they had to go through difficult circumstances during the registration process.
He gave the sentiments after touring and monitoring the ongoing voter registration exercises in Hargeisa which is about to wrap up in a couple of days.
He said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the Somaliland national security forces who have been manning the centers and I am grateful to the staff of the commission at all the regional, district and registration center levels who expedited their duties under difficult circumstances to see that the members of the public were registered countrywide as potential voters”.
