THT- The Minister of Energy & Minerals Hon. Abdilahi Farah Abdi has met today with the Ethiopian Minister of Finance Hon. Ahmed Shide, where two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two governments and create projects in key areas that benefit both countries.
Hon. Abdilahi reportedly discussed with the Ethiopian Minister of Finance how the Ethiopian Government and the Somaliland Government could work together on low-cost energy projects and the Government of Somaliland is preparing the framework for such cooperation
Yesterday, Minister of Energy & Minerals Hon. Abdilahi Farah Abdi who was on a working visit to Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital met with his Ethiopian counterpart, Hon. Tekele Uma at the headquarters of the Ministry of Mineral, Petroleum, and Power.
The two Ministers discussed how their countries could cooperate in the development of minerals resources, petroleum, and electricity infrastructure in the long term.
The two-way meeting started when both ministers inquired about the work scope of their line ministries. They also talked about opportunities for development and future plans for bilateral cooperation.
During the duration of the meeting, the Ministers discussed many important issues and roles both governments could play for full cooperation.
The Minister of Energy Hon. Abdilahi was accompanied by the Somaliland Electricity Commission Board chairman Mr. Ahmed Farah Adare and Somaliland Envoy to Ethiopia Hon. Mohamed Ahmed Awad.
The Government has put much focus on improving the electricity supply, drilling petroleum, and extracting minerals to uplift the country’s economic growth.
