US takes responsibility for providing the security of the Somaliland delegation
THT- Somaliland President, H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi, emphasized his country’s commitment to security and stability in the region, and outlined ways in which the United States could work together during a meeting with senior members of the National Security Council.
The President and his accompanying delegation, who are in the United States for the third day in Washington DC, met with senior members of the National Security Council to discuss cooperation, security, democracy and development. The President of Somaliland and his delegation also held other meetings with the National Institutions for Democracy and the World Bank.
The Somaliland delegation also attended an important business and investment conference at the International Financial Corporation (IFC) in the United States yesterday. The meeting, which was attended by US investors, was attended by some Somaliland businessmen who are part of the US President’s delegation in the United States.
The meetings come after the Somaliland delegation met Tuesday with officials from State Departments’ Mary Catherine Phee, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs of the United States, Ilan Goldenberg of Department of Defence, Maura Barry Boyle of USAID and Amb Andrew Young, of United States Africa Command, to explore opportunities for economic, security and development cooperation in the interests of both parties.
Meanwhile, the meetings of President Muse’s delegation come at a time when US takes responsibility for providing the security of the Somaliland delegation and entrusted to the relevant agencies, thus a matter highlighting their importance and how they are valued.
