Somaliland’s Minister of Water Development, Mohamed Abdi Malik Ahmed, has participated in a high-level meeting focused on Phase III of the ASWA Project, a programme supported by the Government of the Netherlands through UNICEF.
The meeting brought together officials from Somaliland’s Ministries of Water Development, Environment and Climate Change, and Health, alongside representatives from UNICEF and the Netherlands.
Discussions centered on strengthening cooperation in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), as well as improving climate-change adaptation efforts and coordination among institutions working in the sector.
Participants also discussed ways to strengthen collaboration between government institutions and development partners to improve the delivery of essential social services.
The meeting highlighted ongoing efforts to expand access to safe water and improved sanitation, while strengthening coordination to address challenges linked to water security, public health and climate change.
The ASWA Phase III initiative is supported by the Netherlands through UNICEF as part of broader efforts to improve WASH services and strengthen resilience among communities.
