Berbera Corridor stakeholders held prelude meeting to Somaliland-Ethiopia imminent Agreement

THT- A three-day meeting for the stakeholders of the Berbera Corridor project talked over the upcoming agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia was concluded in Hargeisa yesterday.
The meeting was discussed a number of issues related to the project, among others the process of managing cross-border goods and transport between Somaliland and Ethiopia using the Trade Route.
The Minister of Finance, Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire, chaired the meeting, which was organized by the Berbera Corridor Liaison Office.
During the meeting, attenders also reviewed the latest agreement signed between Somaliland and Ethiopia in 2016, and discussed issues related to customs, transportation and ways following international standards when entering into bilateral agreements such as (Berbera Corridor).
The preliminary meeting was a prelude to an agreement to be signed between the two countries (Somaliland and Ethiopia) on the implementation of the Berbera Corridor, which will bring economic and diplomatic benefits to Somaliland.

The stakeholder meeting comes at a time when an Ethiopian-owned ship, Gibe, docked at the port of Berbera in Somaliland for the first time in 20 years, according to the Ethiopian Shipping and Shipping Service (ESLSE).
