The Ministry of Livestock and Rural Development, in partnership with the international organisation Welthungerhilfe (WHH), has distributed hygiene and food storage equipment to cooperatives operating in the districts of Ainabo and Oog in the Saraar Region.
The initiative aims to improve the quality of locally produced goods, strengthen cooperative services and promote safer food handling and storage practices among communities.
The equipment includes hygiene supplies and materials designed for the safe storage of meat, milk and vegetables. The support is expected to improve food hygiene standards, enhance product quality and reduce potential health risks associated with improper food handling and storage.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Ministry’s Regional Coordinator for Saraar, the Mayor of Ainaba and the Chairman of Oog District, who witnessed the distribution of the supplies to the beneficiary cooperatives.
Ministry officials said the initiative forms part of wider efforts to strengthen the operational capacity of local cooperatives, improve food safety and support production among rural and urban communities.
The intervention is also expected to contribute to better food preservation, improved public health and stronger local livelihoods by equipping cooperatives with the necessary tools to maintain the quality and safety of their products.
