Somaliland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Abdirahman Dahir Aden Bakaal, has praised Somaliland citizens in the United States for peacefully demonstrating outside the United Nations headquarters in New York, saying the rally reflected the unity and longstanding aspirations of the Somaliland people.
The minister expressed his appreciation to the participants, who gathered to reaffirm their call for the Republic of Somaliland to receive full international recognition and take its place within the international community.
In a statement published on his X account, Minister Abdirahman Dahir Aden Bakaal said the rally reflected what he described as Somaliland’s longstanding national aspiration and the commitment of its people to pursuing international recognition.
He said Somaliland citizens seek to play a meaningful role in the international community and to secure what he described as the place the country deserves.
The minister also said he was pleased to stand alongside Somaliland citizens who gathered outside the UN headquarters, describing their demonstration as a peaceful and united expression of support for Somaliland’s pursuit of international recognition.
The rally brought together Somaliland citizens from the United States and the wider North American diaspora outside the UN headquarters, where participants displayed Somaliland flags and voiced their call for international recognition.
