University of Hargeisa Opens Major International Research Conference, Bringing Together Scholars From 17+ Countries

The University of Hargeisa has inaugurated a major international research conference in Hargeisa, bringing together researchers and academics from more than 17 countries to showcase cutting-edge research and exchange knowledge on issues of global and local importance.

The conference features more than 100 research studies, highlighting the growing role of the University of Hargeisa as a hub for academic research, innovation and community development.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, University of Hargeisa President Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Sulub said the institution has evolved beyond its traditional role as a place of learning and is increasingly becoming a center for research and community service.

“The University of Hargeisa has moved beyond being simply a place of learning; today, it is a center for research and a provider of community services,” Dr. Sulub said.

He highlighted the university’s growing contribution to research, noting that it has conducted and published more than 121 research studies in recent years.

Dr. Sulub further revealed that the university has set an ambitious target for the current year, aiming to produce 396 research studies, underscoring its commitment to strengthening academic research and generating knowledge that can contribute to Somaliland’s social and economic development.

The international gathering provides a platform for scholars from different countries to present their findings, share expertise and establish academic networks, while positioning the University of Hargeisa as an increasingly prominent institution for research and intellectual exchange in the Horn of Africa region.
