The Government of the Republic of Somaliland has strongly condemned an attack targeting two vessels owned by the United Arab Emirates, expressing its full solidarity with the UAE government and people.

In a statement, Somaliland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said it firmly rejects any action that threatens the security and safety of international maritime navigation or undermines the freedom of trade.

The ministry stressed that the safety of international shipping lanes is vital to regional stability and the uninterrupted flow of global commerce, particularly in a strategically important maritime region.

Somaliland also underscored the importance of respecting international law, describing adherence to international rules as essential to maintaining regional peace, protecting maritime security, and ensuring the continuity of international trade.

The statement reflects Somaliland’s broader emphasis on maritime security and its growing engagement with regional and international partners on issues affecting the stability of the Red Sea and surrounding waterways.
