Somaliland’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Development has convened senior government officials and private-sector representatives in Hargeisa to assess progress in implementing the country’s Third National Development Plan (NDP III) and chart priorities for the remainder of 2026.
The meeting, chaired by State Minister of Finance and Economic Development Ismail Mawlid Abdillahi, brought together key stakeholders for the third-quarter review session of the Economic Pillar of NDP III.
Participants included representatives from the Ministries of Planning and National Development, Trade and Tourism, Investment, and Labor and Social Affairs, as well as officials from major financial and regulatory institutions, including the Bank of Somaliland and the Somaliland Free Zone Authority.
The session focused on reviewing economic performance indicators and measuring progress against targets set for 2026. Officials reported that the majority of planned economic initiatives have been successfully implemented, reflecting continued progress toward the government’s development objectives.
The review also provided an opportunity to identify outstanding priorities and areas requiring greater attention during the remaining months of the year.
Officials agreed to maintain momentum on key economic programs and strengthen coordination among government institutions and private-sector stakeholders to ensure that the remaining objectives under NDP III are achieved before the end of 2026.
The quarterly review forms part of Somaliland’s broader effort to monitor national development performance, strengthen institutional coordination and ensure that economic policies translate into tangible development outcomes.
