Chairman of Somaliland’s ruling WADDANI Party, Hon. Hersi Ali Haji Hassan, on Tuesday welcomed a delegation from the United States and the Czech Republic visiting Somaliland to attend the Hargeisa International Book Fair, using the meeting to showcase Somaliland’s democratic achievements and strengthen international engagement.
The delegation, led by Max L. Webb, met with the WADDANI chairman at his office in Hargeisa, where discussions focused on Somaliland’s political development, democratic governance, and prospects for deeper international cooperation.
According to Hon. Hersi, the visitors shared valuable insights from their experiences and engagements across Somaliland, reflecting on their interactions with the country’s people, institutions, and ongoing development efforts.
During the meeting, Hersi presented a comprehensive overview of Somaliland’s history, highlighting its democratic journey, commitment to peacebuilding, and progress in governance and development. He also outlined Somaliland’s continued campaign for international re-recognition, emphasizing the country’s record of stability and democratic governance in the Horn of Africa.
The WADDANI chairman expressed his appreciation for the delegation’s interest in Somaliland and stressed the importance of strengthening people-to-people diplomacy as a means of fostering mutual understanding and expanding international relations.
The visit formed part of the delegation’s participation in the Hargeisa International Book Fair, one of the Horn of Africa’s region leading cultural events, which annually attracts writers, academics, diplomats, and international visitors to Somaliland for discussions on literature, culture, governance, and global affairs.
