Residents of the Republic of Somaliland’s Sanaag region celebrated a major boost to essential public services as two key development projects—a Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Center and a new borehole—were officially inaugurated in the communities of Weylo-sidke and Xabow.
The projects, implemented by MP Abdikarim Meecaad, are designed to improve access to quality healthcare for mothers and children while ensuring a reliable supply of clean and safe drinking water for local communities.
The newly established Maternal and Child Health Center is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery by providing critical maternal and pediatric services closer to residents, reducing the need for families to travel long distances for medical care. Meanwhile, the new borehole will help ease persistent water shortages and improve sanitation and public health in the area.
Community members welcomed the initiatives with enthusiasm, describing them as a significant milestone in addressing long-standing development challenges. They said the projects would enhance the quality of life, support healthier families, and contribute to the region’s broader social and economic development.
The inauguration marks another investment in community infrastructure aimed at expanding access to essential services and improving living conditions across Sanaag region.
