The World Bank has commended Somaliland for its effective management and successful implementation of development projects financed by the institution, describing the partnership as a model of productive cooperation and accountability.

Speaking on behalf of the World Bank, its Representative to Somaliland, Mr. Hideki, expressed appreciation for the Somaliland Government’s commitment to ensuring that World Bank-supported projects are managed efficiently and delivered effectively.

Mr. Hideki highlighted the strong working relationship between the World Bank and Somaliland’s public institutions, noting that this cooperation has played a key role in advancing development initiatives across the country. He paid particular tribute to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development for its leadership in coordinating, overseeing, and monitoring development programs.

“The proper management and transparent implementation of development projects are essential for strengthening the partnership between Somaliland and the World Bank,” Mr. Hideki said, emphasizing the importance of accountability and effective project delivery.

The commendation is widely seen as a vote of confidence in Somaliland’s institutional capacity and governance systems. It also underscores the growing trust that international development partners place in Somaliland’s ability to manage resources responsibly and translate investment into tangible development outcomes.

Observers say the recognition could further enhance cooperation between Somaliland and international financial institutions, opening the door for expanded support to critical sectors including infrastructure, economic development, public services, and social welfare.

The World Bank’s endorsement reflects increasing international confidence in Somaliland’s approach to development management and its commitment to ensuring that externally funded projects deliver meaningful benefits to its people.
