The Chairman of the Somaliland Doctors Association, Dr. Yusuf Mohamed (Ayman), has participated in a major international conference dedicated to improving healthcare across Africa and promoting accessible, high-quality health services.
The three-day conference, held at the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON), brought together more than 2,000 delegates from across the globe. Attendees included health ministers from African countries, representatives of international organizations such as WHO, Africa CDC, UNICEF, UNFPA, and Gavi (The Vaccine Alliance), as well as experts from insurance companies, universities, hospitals, and other key stakeholders in the health sector.
The conference was officially opened by the President of Kenya, H.E. William Samoei Ruto, alongside Zainab Hawa Bangura, Head of the United Nations Office in Nairobi.
This year’s theme, “Reshaping Africa’s Health Systems: Innovation, Integration, and Interdependence,” guided discussions throughout the event.
Deliberations focused on how African nations can strengthen leadership and ownership in financing their health systems, as well as accelerate progress toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) and universal health coverage by 2030.
Health ministers from 25 African countries also presented the main challenges facing their health sectors, alongside proposed solutions aimed at improving service delivery, with strong emphasis on innovation, collaboration, and regional cooperation.
The conference was highlighted as a key platform for advancing international cooperation and reinforcing Africa’s health systems toward a more sustainable and equitable future.
