The National Electoral Commission of the Republic of Somaliland held a crucial meeting today with the special committee appointed by the House of Elders (Guurti) to advise on the extension of terms for the House of Representatives and the country’s Local Councils.
The Term Extension Committee, along with the Guurti’s leadership, has been engaged in intensive consultations at the Guurti headquarters over the past several days, meeting with various political stakeholders to gather diverse opinions.
Led by its Chairman, the Electoral Commission joined the discussions and formally submitted its expert recommendations, while also outlining the Commission’s specific responsibilities in organizing and conducting the upcoming elections.
