President calls for security measures to safeguard peaceful stability through dialogue and legal means

The President H.E. Abdillahi Mohamed Abdillahi Irro convened a National Consultative Meeting bringing together parliamentary leaders, elders, ministers, and the national peace committee to find a lasting solution to the conflict in Awdal and Selel regions.

He was flanked by his deputy VP H.E. Mohamed Abdi aw Ali.

The President extended national condolences to families and relatives who lost loved ones in the conflict and emphasized the urgency of a unified national response to halt the violence and prevent further bloodshed.

He called on all stakeholders to prioritize peace, dialogue, and lawful conflict resolution rooted in Somaliland’s traditions.

The meeting reflected strong national unity and commitment to decisive action aimed at restoring peace and coexistence.

Key directives from the President included:

  • Immediate cessation of hostilities and protection of civilian lives
  • Launch of a unified national emergency response involving government institutions, traditional leaders, and community figures
  • Strengthening dialogue and conflict resolution mechanisms
  • Enhancing security measures in Awdal and Selel to prevent escalation

Participants widely welcomed the President’s peace resolve and pledged full support toward ending the conflict and restoring lasting peace in the affected regions.

Meanwhile in related events, the VP H.E. Mohamed Abdi along with a high-level delegation, arrived in Borama on a working visit aimed at laying the groundwork for resolving ongoing conflict in the Awdal and Selel regions.

The delegation includes top officials from the ministries of interior, energy, and the national armed forces.
