The President of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro has once again reiterated and underscored the importance of maintain and safeguarding peace and stability for national development.
He at the similarly vouched for the government’s commitment to resolving conflicts between the brotherly communities in Awdal and Selel through dialogue and reconciliation.
The Head of State made the statements during the 58th session of the Somaliland Council of Cabinet Ministers meeting that he chaired while flanked b his deputy VP H.E. Mohamed Ali aw Abdi.
Major issues focused during the session included security, economic situation as concerns trading,
The Minister of Interior Hon. Abdalle Arab briefed the meeting that the overall security situation remains stable, with the exception of recent clashes in Awdal and Selel regions. He emphasized ongoing government efforts over the past four months to resolve the conflict and extended condolences to families affected by the violence.
He vowed that the government would do is best in securing stability and protect all residents.
On his part the Minister of Trade briefed the cabinet on the global economic impact of the Middle East conflict, highlighting disruptions in international trade, increased maritime insurance costs, and rising prices of fuel and essential goods, all contributing to inflation and reduced purchasing power.
The Minister of Health reported improvements in public health services, pointing out a decline in recent outbreaks following nationwide campaigns to combat the malaise. He also outlined efforts to strengthen sustainable healthcare systems amid declining international funding given the nationwide vaccination campaigns conducted from March 24th to 31st, 2026.
He said that 3 by 433 teams were engaged in the national exercise.
The Minister of Livestock on his part stated that livestock remains the backbone of Somaliland’s economy and that despite drought conditions, animal health remained stable, and export activities continue. He also highlighted the need for a separate docking harbour dedicated to livestock export in Berbera to boost trade.
He informed the session that special clinic to deal with casualties such as bone fractures and emergency surgeries have been established and that the enclosed pasture-lands such as Aroori was monumental in serving about 2million livestock during the hard times.
