A capacity-building training workshop jointly organized by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development of the Republic of Somaliland and the World Bank was successfully concluded on Thursday 2nd April 2026 in Nairobi.
The two-phase training program began its first leg in Hargeisa, focusing on strengthening financial transparency, preventing corruption, and improving oversight of financial systems. The second phase, held in Nairobi, emphasized enhancing project implementation skills, covering key areas such as financial management, procurement, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), environmental and social safeguards, and stakeholder engagement.
Participants included Director Generals from various ministries and agencies, project coordinators, and other senior government officials involved in World Bank-funded projects in Somaliland.
The workshop forms part of broader efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and improve the efficiency and transparency of development projects across Somaliland.
