Cabinet approves Agricultural Seeds Production draft bill

The members of cabinet have approved the bill of the Agricultural Seeds Production Act during their weekly meeting on Wednesday.

All the 36 members present voted unanimously for the bill which will thence be forwarded to the House of Representatives.

 The 45th Session of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Somaliland was chaired by President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro and had several key national issues on focus that was pondered on.

According to a presser by the Presidential spokesman Hussein Adam Ige, the matters discussed were generally as follows: –

  1. National Drought Situation Report

Presented by the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments Hon. Sheikh Abdullahi-Bashe Dahir Jama, who is also a member of the National Drought Response Committee.

  1. National Security Situation Report

Delivered by the State Minister for Interior and National Security, Hon. Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed (Magaalo).

  1. Report on National Revenue and Economic Performance

Presented to the cabinet by the State Minister for Finance and Economic Development Hon. Ismael Mawlid Abdillaahi.

  1. Report on the National Justice Sector Reform Conference

The Minister of Justice Hon. Yoonis Ahmed Yoonis briefed the Cabinet on the outcomes and recommendations of the recently concluded National Conference on Reforming the Justice Institutions.

  1. Measures to Counter Harmful Misinformation Threatening Security and Stability on Social Media

Delivered by the Minister of Communications and Technology, Hon. Jamal Mohamed Jama.

  1. Report on the Education Sector and the Impact of Drought on Learning

Presented by the Minister of Education, Science and Research Professor Ismael Duale Yusuf.

  1. Briefing on Government Information Coordination and Standardization across Ministries

Given by the Minister of the Presidency, Hon. Khadar Hussein Abdi.

  1. Discussion and Approval of the Draft on Agricultural Seeds Production Act

A joint briefing was delivered by the Attorney General, Ali Bashe Mohamed, and the Minister of Agricultural Development, Hon. Mohamoud Ige Yusuf.

After deliberations, President Abdirahman Irro requested the 36 Cabinet members present to vote on the draft.

The Bill was unanimously approved, with no objections or abstentions.

This marks the eighth law passed by the Cabinet of the “Unity and Delivery” government during its tenure.
