The government of Denmark has praised the achievements the Somaliland government has made in peace-building and stability in the eastern parts of the country.
This comes to light as the President of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi, popularly known as Irro, held a strategic meeting on Tuesday at the Presidential Palace with the Ambassador of Denmark, H.E. Steen Sonne Andersen.
The Head of State thanked the Ambassador and the government of Denmark for their continued support to Somaliland in areas such as development, economic infrastructure, state institutions, and technical assistance for elections and democratization.
He emphasized Somaliland’s commitment to strengthening and expanding bilateral relations—particularly cooperation in security, economic development, social services, and national development programs.
In turn, Ambassador Andersen praised the President and his administration for progress made in peace-building and stability in eastern Somaliland, especially in Erigavo.
He reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to supporting peace-building, infrastructure development, and the strengthening of institutions critical to good governance.
The Ambassador also reviewed Denmark’s development programs and its major operations in Somaliland, including discussions on the electoral process and democratization efforts.
The meeting concluded with mutual understanding and a pledge from both sides to work together for peace, stability, and development in the Horn of Africa.
