Somaliland rallies for peace and stability

The government of the Republic of Somaliland has once again demonstrated to the world that peace remains the cornerstone of its statehood and national development.

A massive public rally held in the capital, Hargeisa, on Thursday night in support of peace and national unity showcased the solidarity and political maturity of the Somaliland people.

The Minister of the Presidency Hon. Khadar Hussein Abdi, speaking at the event, highlighted the pivotal role of the President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro, in strengthening peace and unity among citizens.

Minister Khadar passionately emphasized that the “Government of Unity and Performance” has, since taking office, devoted great effort to consolidating peace, social harmony, and national cohesion”.

He stated, “During the nine months President Dr. Abdirahman Irro has been in office, his focus has been on maintaining peace and unity among the Somaliland people. The President has tirelessly worked to ensure that we all join hands as one nation.”

Minister Khadar further praised the Somaliland people, describing them as a peace-loving and united society, hence said, “You are a people who cherish peace, goodness, unity, and the togetherness of the citizens of the Republic of Somaliland. We know this, and we deeply appreciate it.”

For his part, the Governor of Maroodi-jeeh Region, Professor Ahmed Mohamed Adaad, underscored the essential role peace plays in human life and national progress.

Addressing the peace rally, he remarked that peace is the foundation of development, while violence only leads to destruction and regression.

“We relish in peace because of stability; when we have peace, we attract investment which is a conducive environment for our children and as such we ought to join hands to together to safeguard the stability”, said the governor.

The remarks of the officials who addressed the gathering clearly reflect the government’s vision of unity, patriotism, and collective effort—anchored in national solidarity and public trust. They reaffirm that peace is the backbone of Somaliland’s politics, progress, and international reputation.

Under the leadership of President Dr. Abdirahman Cirro, the Government of Unity and Performance has, within a short period, succeeded in rebuilding public confidence within the nation and strengthening dialogue and reconciliation across the divide—demonstrating responsible leadership and a deep commitment to national unity.
