In a significant move underscoring governments commitment to national security, President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro conducted a comprehensive work inspection at the General Command Center of the Somaliland National Army today. The visit highlights the President’s focus on strengthening the nation’s military capabilities to safeguard Somaliland’s sovereignty and stability.

During the inspection, President Irro met with Brigadier General Nim’an Yusuf Osman (Gaxnuug), Commander of the National Army, alongside senior military officers. The President received an in-depth briefing on the army’s current status, operational needs, and strategic plans for advancement. Emphasizing the importance of regular engagement, he announced that such meetings with the military leadership would become a recurring feature of his administration.

Praising the National Army for their unwavering dedication, President Irro described them as “the cornerstone of Somaliland’s sovereignty and statehood.” He reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the army’s capabilities through modernized training programs and advanced equipment, ensuring they are well-equipped to fulfil their constitutional mandate and maintain public trust.

In a notable announcement, the President revealed plans to commence construction of housing for military personnel, fulfilling a key promise from his election campaign. Additionally, he confirmed that promotions for eligible officers would be rolled out in the near future, further boosting morale and operational efficiency.

The visit concluded with President Irro presenting certificates to officers who recently completed specialized training abroad, recognizing their contributions to the nation’s defense readiness.
