Somaliland and Djibouti Commit to Strengthening Bilateral Ties

HARGEISA, Somaliland – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), received a high-level delegation from the Republic of Djibouti led by its Minister of Trade and Tourism, H.E. Mohamed Warsame Dirir, for crucial talks at the Presidential Palace on Thursday.

The meeting centered on enhancing the longstanding fraternal and cooperative relationship between the two neighboring nations. Key discussion points included bolstering economic collaboration, specifically in the sectors of trade, tourism, and transportation, and identifying new mutual development projects.

Both leaders emphasized the critical importance of building upon their historic cultural and economic ties. President Cirro highlighted the significant potential for growth through joint initiatives.

“The President expressed his gratitude for the delegation’s visit and underscored the necessity for our two nations to collaborate in boosting trade and facilitating tourism,” a statement from the office of the President noted. “Such cooperation is vital for stimulating economic growth and creating job opportunities for our peoples.”

Echoing this sentiment, Minister Mohamed Warsame Dirir reaffirmed Djibouti’s commitment to deepening its bonds of brotherhood and partnership with Somaliland.

“The government and people of Djibouti are dedicated to further strengthening our fraternal bonds, collaboration, and shared strategic interests,” Minister Dirir stated. “We are particularly focused on advancing our joint interests in the fields of commerce, tourism, and the free movement of our citizens.”

The meeting is seen as a positive step towards greater economic integration and continued diplomatic engagement between Somaliland and Djibouti.
