The Minister of Education, Youth, and Science, Mr. Ismail Ducale Yusuf, has called for urgent action to address youth unemployment through job creation and skills development programs. Speaking at a recent event, the Minister highlighted that unemployment is a root cause of critical issues plaguing Somaliland’s youth, including illegal migration, drug abuse, and tribalism.
“These challenges are the greatest enemies of our youth’s future,” Minister Yusuf declared, emphasizing the need for comprehensive strategies to empower young people. He reaffirmed the Somaliland government’s commitment to implementing vocational training and quality education initiatives to equip youth with the tools to build a brighter future and contribute to national development.
“We must create jobs and provide skills for our youth to engage in productive work. This is the key to preventing illegal migration, drug abuse, and tribalism,” the Minister stated.
The government’s focus on youth empowerment aims to foster stability and progress in Somaliland by ensuring young people have access to opportunities that enable them to thrive and drive positive change in their communities.
