Somaliland Education Minister Meets World Bank in Nairobi to Boost Education Project

Somaliland’s Minister of Education, Prof. Ismail Duale Yusuf, held a productive meeting with World Bank officials in Nairobi to discuss accelerating the World Bank-funded education support project for Somaliland. The initiative aims to strengthen the Somaliland’s education system through infrastructure development, teacher training, and youth skill enhancement.

Accompanied by Ministry of Education representatives, Minister Yusuf presented a detailed progress report, highlighting significant strides made in the project’s implementation. The World Bank’s project lead for Somaliland and Somalia, Mr. Hideki Matsunaga, praised the Ministry’s dedication and the Minister’s effective leadership in driving the initiative forward.

The project focuses on constructing educational facilities, improving teacher quality, and equipping Somaliland’s youth with essential skills and knowledge to foster economic growth and resilience. This collaboration underscores Somaliland’s commitment to advancing education and aligns with the World Bank’s broader goals of promoting inclusive development in the Horn of Africa.
