In a significant step toward strengthening economic ties, President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro welcomed a high-level delegation from the Supreme Council for Arab-African Economy at the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa. The nine-member delegation, led by Dr. Hani Hassan Abu Zayid, arrived in Somaliland for an official visit aimed at exploring investment and trade opportunities.

The Supreme Council, a France-established organization registered with the United Nations and headquartered in Saudi Arabia, comprises prominent international investors and business leaders. Discussions during the meeting centered on Somaliland’s investment potential, trade expansion, economic development, and regional cooperation.

Somaliland’s Minister of Investment Promotion and Industry, Hon. Said Mohamed Buraale, who greeted the delegation upon their arrival, outlined the visit’s objectives. These include assessing Somaliland’s investment and business prospects, engaging with government institutions overseeing the country’s rich natural resources—such as mining, livestock, fisheries, and agriculture—and establishing a permanent Council office in Somaliland.

President Irro highlighted Somaliland’s strategic location, political stability, reliable governance, and democratic framework, positioning the nation as an attractive destination for investment. He urged the delegation to explore partnerships in natural resources, economic infrastructure, energy, and trade.

The delegation praised Somaliland’s remarkable progress and expressed enthusiasm for deepening cooperation in investment, trade, and development. They committed to further visits and meetings with relevant government bodies to advance these goals.

This historic meeting underscores Somaliland’s growing appeal as a hub for international investment and its commitment to fostering economic partnerships across the Arab and African regions.
