The President of Somaliland Donates Kidney Dialysis Machines to Hargeisa General Hospital

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), has donated ten kidney dialysis machines to the general hospital in Hargeisa, which will significantly address the community’s need for access to such treatment machines.
The Director General of Hargeisa Hospital, Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Osman, thanked the President of Somaliland for providing these dialysis machines to Hargeisa Hospital. He noted that they had requested the machines from the President, who promptly responded to their needs.

Speaking on the matter, the Director General of Hargeisa General Hospital said, “We are unveiling here 10 machines added to the kidney care and treatment department of Hargeisa General Hospital, which are kidney dialysis machines. These ten machines were donated to the hospital by the President of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), in response to the needs we presented regarding the kidney department of Hargeisa General Hospital.”

On the other hand, the Director of Hargeisa Hospital provided an update on the kidney department and its components, as well as the patients it serves. He stated, “This department consists of a section established by the government and another by the United Arab Emirates. The previous machines in use had been operational since 2014. The patients receiving kidney dialysis at the hospital number 150, which is the capacity of the current machines. However, there are more than 20 additional people who have not yet found space and also need these machines, which the hospital could accommodate if they were available.”

The Director pointed out that the number of kidney-related patients is increasing every time, and he thanked the President for the support of the machines donated to the critically ill kidney patients. He said, “The number of outpatients is constantly rising because we have a high prevalence of diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and other conditions that can lead to kidney failure. To the President, we say, ‘May Allah add this to your scale of good deeds.’ We are immensely grateful, and to the community, we say that this donation from the President has reached us. The number of patients exceeds our capacity, so we urge anyone who can assist us with more machines to come forward.”
