The Central Bank of Somaliland, in partnership with the Somaliland Women in Finance (SWIFI) Association, has launched a financial literacy training programme aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs and strengthening their businesses across Somaliland.
The programme, financially supported by the Central Bank of Somaliland, targets women running businesses in local markets, equipping them with financial knowledge and practical skills to improve money management and expand their commercial activities.
The opening ceremony was attended by Muna Mohamed Cartan, Deputy Director of the Legal Department at the Central Bank of Somaliland; Khalif Sheikh Omar, Chairman of the Somaliland Bankers Association; Maryan Sa’ad, Chairperson of SWIFI; representatives from the Ministries of Trade and Finance; and women entrepreneurs.
The training is designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of financial management, helping them manage their business finances more effectively, make informed financial decisions and identify opportunities to grow their enterprises.
The initiative forms part of the Central Bank of Somaliland’s broader efforts to promote financial literacy and strengthen the economic capacity of women entrepreneurs, recognising their role in local markets and the wider economy.
Through its collaboration with SWIFI, the Central Bank aims to expand financial knowledge among women in business and support their efforts to build stronger, more sustainable enterprises.
