The Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Somaliland, Hon. Abubakar Abdirahman Good, said that during the short stint in office, he implemented 31 water wells, dams and large wells, adding that the dams were modern ones which have facilities such as water collection sheets, solar energy-powered lights, tanks and troughs for livestock to drink from.
The minister said that there are many areas where water wells were supposed to be dug but failed, and he noted that the Oodwayne and Eel Deer areas sent experts from abroad to conduct water surveys and the feedback is that the water table is 600 meters below the surface.

The minister added that he has made a special effort in the ministry’s water laboratory, which he intends to ensure the overall quality of water used by the Somaliland community, in order to protect the country’s water quality.
He stated that the six major regions are to have their own rigs such that water resources are implemented to reach self-sufficiency.
